Roblox stopped working in Qatar on 13 August 2025. Players opening the app saw a “No Network” error, and the website would not load, even though the game could still be downloaded from the Apple and Google stores.
Why did Qatar block Roblox?
The block followed a social media campaign by Qatari users calling for a ban because of risks to children and teenagers. Local newspapers reported that the decision was meant to protect children from moral and safety threats, after reports of virtual assaults and content that offended religious and cultural values inside the game.
Unlike most countries that have restricted Roblox, Qatar’s government did not publish a statement explaining the decision. The internet censorship monitor OONI detected access problems with Roblox from 7:32 a.m. on 13 August, which confirmed the block was happening at network level rather than being a game outage.
What did Roblox say?
Roblox did not issue a specific response to the Qatar block at the time. Shortly afterwards, the company temporarily switched off in-game chat for users in Arabic-speaking countries while it tightened moderation of Arabic content.
Is Roblox still banned in Qatar?
Yes. Reports in 2026 still list Qatar among the countries where Roblox is blocked, and we found no official announcement that access has returned. Because Qatar never formally announced the ban, a reopening could also happen quietly, so check before you rely on this page.
Has a Gulf country banned Roblox before?
Yes. The United Arab Emirates blocked Roblox between 2018 and 2021 over exposure to violence, explicit content and swearing, and Oman and Jordan had also restricted it before 2025. Qatar’s move was the first of a new wave rather than the first ban in the region.
How does Qatar compare with its neighbours?
Qatar acted first in a wave of Gulf restrictions in 2025. Kuwait blocked Roblox a week later but reopened it in October, while Iraq’s nationwide ban followed that autumn. Outside the region, Turkey has blocked Roblox since 2024 on similar child-safety grounds.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Roblox banned in Qatar?
Yes. Roblox has been blocked in Qatar since 13 August 2025. The app can still be downloaded, but it shows a 'No Network' error and the website does not load.
Why is Roblox showing 'No Network' in Qatar?
The error appears because access to Roblox is blocked at network level in Qatar, not because of a problem with your connection or the game's servers.
Why did Qatar ban Roblox?
Qatar did not publish an official reason. Local media said the block followed a social media campaign over child safety and reports of content offensive to religious and cultural values.
