Kuwait blocked Roblox on 21 August 2025 and lifted the block on 28 October 2025, about two months later. It is one of the few Roblox bans that ended with a deal between the government and the company.

Why did Kuwait ban Roblox?

The Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) said it was temporarily blocking the platform after parents and community groups complained about content that could harm children. The move came a week after Qatar blocked Roblox, and as several Gulf governments were reviewing the game.

Why was the ban lifted?

CITRA lifted the block after reaching an agreement with Roblox. Under the deal, the company would remove content and language considered offensive to Kuwaiti customs, traditions and moral values. Roblox had already paused in-game chat for users in Arabic-speaking countries while it improved its Arabic-language moderation, so players returned to a more restricted version of the platform.

Is Roblox banned in Kuwait now?

No. Roblox has been available in Kuwait since late October 2025, with extra content restrictions. Because the original block was described as temporary and was lifted under conditions, CITRA could act again if it receives new complaints.

What does Kuwait’s case show?

Kuwait’s quick reversal set a pattern that other governments later followed. Russia lifted its Roblox ban in June 2026 after a similar agreement on child safety. Others have held firm: Qatar’s block and Iraq’s ban are still in place.
